One Day at a Time x Jessica Rycheal

Posted on

Many of you have been asking me about new product for a while now. I took a hiatus to improve elements of the brand behind the scenes, and to focus on my own wellbeing. It's important to me that this platform continue to grow and revolve. It is equally important for the messages to be authentic and real. I've realized that sharing my story and experiences are necessary, and I intend to do more of that. However, I'm much more comfortable behind the scenes camera than in front of it, so that often proves to be challenging.
My name is Jessica Rycheal. I am a 28 year old Creative Entrepreneur. The Underdog Co began as a passion project, and evolved into a platform for me to connect with fellow working class dreamers —as we journey through the process of building something from the ground up, from the inside out. All of the messages produced through product come from a real place, from different stages of growth. The new "One day at a time" tanks, slated to release this coming week, were inspired by a daily mantra that's kept me focused during my quarrels with depression and anxiety.

Anyone who deals with mental illness can relate to the roller coasters of emotion, periods of progress, unpredictable relapses, and the cycles of triumph and frustration. Survival is a daily process. Progress is a commitment that is renewed daily. We have to learn to breathe through it. To take it one day at a time. That's the only way I know to survive. The thing I believe keeps me going. It's an affirmation I've been using for years. You cannot control what happens to you. You can't control what happens around you. Change doesn't happen all at once, and growth isn't a single occurrence. Neither is progress. Or success. They are all daily processes. Daily commitments. Choices we make.
That doesn't mean things go smoothly. Sometimes they do, and sometimes they don't. But no matter what your obstacle, thorn or journey is, focus on the step in front of you. Focus on the day at hand. This one. Today. Give it the best you have to give. Choose to be better today. Choose to keep going. Keep pushing. One day at a time.
